    This Sunday 12, at 1:26 p.m., Copa Airlines’ inaugural flight from Panama landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

    The Georgia state capital is now Copa Airlines’ 14th destination in the United States, opening a new gateway to dozens of destinations in the U.S., as well as serving the fast-growing Spanish-speaking population in the region.

    The airline will operate four weekly flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, departing Tocumen Airport as CM880 at 9:26 a.m. and arriving in Atlanta at 1:28 p.m. The return flight will be CM881 at 4:04 p.m., landing in Panama at 8:18 p.m. All times are local.

    Flights are operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, providing a capacity of 1,232 seats per week.

    At present, the route between Panama and Atlanta is covered by Delta Air Lines with a daily flight in Boeing 737-900 aircraft.

    With its arrival in Atlanta, Copa Airlines now operates 182 weekly flights to 14 destinations in the United States (13 in the mainland plus San Juan in Puerto Rico), with an offer of 28,214 seats each way, according to data obtained through Cirium by Aviacionline.

    • Atlanta: four weekly flights.
    • Boston: five weekly flights.
    • Denver: four weekly flights.
    • Fort Lauderdale: six weekly flights.
    • Washington-Dulles: 14 weekly flights.
    • New York-JFK: 31 weekly flights.
    • Las Vegas: four weekly flights.
    • Los Angeles: 14 weekly flights.
    • Orlando: 30 weekly flights.
    • Miami: 41 weekly flights.
    • Chicago-O’Hare: seven weekly flights.
    • San Francisco: eight weekly flights.
    • San Juan: 10 weekly flights.
    • Tampa: four weekly flights.

    All are operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with the exception of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and some flights to Orlando and Miami, which are operated with 737 MAX 9 aircraft.

    This allows Copa to capture 77.2% of the seat offer between Panama and the United States, followed by United with 10.5% and American with 6.5%.
