Colombian Airline SATENA Expands Network with Bogotá-Flandes Route

The route will be operated with Beechcraft 1900D aircraft, with a capacity for 19 passengers, designed to provide agile and safe service on short routes.

The opening of this new connection adds to a series of routes recently inaugurated by SATENA as part of its strategy to strengthen regional connectivity in Colombia. During November, the state airline began operations on the Cali-Pizarro route (November 7), Bogotá-Paipa (November 11), and Villavicencio-La Macarena (November 15), consolidating its role in integrating remote regions.

Additionally, SATENA increased its operations at Las Brujas Airport (CZU) in Corozal, where it now operates a daily flight between Medellín and Corozal and increased from 6 to 7 weekly flights on the Bogotá-Corozal route. These additional operations are carried out with ATR 42-500/600 aircraft, which have increased the number of available seats at this terminal by 133%.

Tourism and economic impact

The addition of the Bogotá-Flandes route will not only improve mobility for Tolima residents but also promote tourism in nearby destinations such as Girardot, Melgar, and other municipalities in the region. According to Major General Óscar Zuluaga, President of SATENA: «These new routes will bring travelers closer to less explored destinations, encouraging tourism and development in the regions.»
