    Unpublished routes to Brazil

In this new application, the carrier seeks to expand its presence in Brazil with flights to Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and Sao Paulo (GRU) from Cartagena (CTG) and Cali (CLO). Previously, it had already obtained approval to operate from both Brazilian cities to Bogota (BOG) and Medellin (MDE).

In addition, this time they are adding Belo Horizonte (CNF) from their main hub in Medellin.

VIVA will begin operations in Brazil on June 22, with three weekly flights between Medellin and Sao Paulo.

    More connectivity to the Caribbean

The company landed in March in the Caribbean region, more specifically in Punta Cana (PUJ), Dominican Republic. Now it has requested a link between Medellin and Santo Domingo, adding this route to the approved one between the Dominican capital and Bogota.

In this request to Aerocivil, it included a connection between Medellin and Aruba, which is currently operated by SARPA.

    Secondary cities in Mexico

In recent months, Colombian companies have expanded their presence in Mexico, particularly in Cancun (CUN) and Mexico City (MEX).

Now, VIVA will be the first Colombian company looking to operate in Guadalajara (GDL) and Monterrey (MTY), main bases for Mexican low cost carriers Volaris and Viva Aerobus.

VIVA currently flies to Mexico City from Medellin and Bogota; starting in June, Cali and Cartagena will be joined by Cancun, operating from Medellin and Cali.

    Costa Rica in the spotlight

The Costa Rican market is beginning to gain relevance, after the announcement of the landing of Volaris Costa Rica in Bogota and the addition of flights from San Jose (SJO) to Cali (CLO), Medellin (MDE) and Cartagena (CTG) by Avianca.

Within the application submitted, VIVA is also requesting 17 domestic links from various cities, decentralizing a large number of routes and introducing some new ones.

The company puts a focus on Santa Marta (SMR) with four links, and expresses intentions to reach Ibagué (IBE), Quibdó (UIB) and Popayán (PPN) from Medellín (MDE), Bogotá (BOG) and Cartagena (CTG).
