CAE Inaugurates Central European Business Aviation Training Center in Vienna
CAE officially inaugurated its first business aviation training center in Central Europe, located in Vienna, Austria. According to a statement from CAE, the facility has been operational since April but now celebrates its formal opening.
The new center is already offering pilot training on four business aircraft types. It features full-flight simulators (FFS) for the Gulfstream G550, Bombardier Global 7500, and Bombardier Global 6000 models. Additionally, a simulator for the Embraer Phenom 100/300 family is available, as part of the Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) joint venture.
The center's capacity will soon expand. In October of this year, a fifth simulator for the Bombardier Challenger 3500 will be ready for training, while a sixth FFS, for the Pilatus PC-24, will be deployed in the second half of 2026.
Alexandre Prévost, CAE’s Division President for Business Aviation, highlighted that "the inauguration of CAE Vienna ushers in a new era for business aviation in Europe, adding critical training capacity in the region." Prévost also referenced the company's talent forecast, which estimates that the business aviation industry in Europe will need 7,000 new pilots and 9,000 new maintenance technicians over the next 10 years.
The 8,000-square-meter facility incorporates smart technologies to simplify processes such as booking, check-in, and access to training records. The center features self-service kiosks, a barista café, and a pilot lounge to enhance the customer experience.
Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Upper Austria’s Regional Minister for Economy, stated that "with the location of CAE Vienna, we are sending a strong signal for Austria as a strategic hub for aviation, business, and innovation."
Like other CAE centers worldwide, such as those in Burgess Hill, U.K., and Dubai, the Vienna facility offers all phases of classroom and simulator training for pilots to earn their type ratings and complete recurrent training.
