It is based on the assessment of airport operators’ efforts to decarbonize operations based on measurable targets.

The ACA Program certifies airports at six levels: «Mapping», «Reduction», «Optimization», «Neutrality», «Transformation» and «Transition». The Rio’s airport received level 1 certification.

Other airports in Brazil that are certified at this level are Brasilia International Airport, Natal International Airport and Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport. The international airports of Belo Horizonte-Confins and Salvador de Bahia were certified at level 2.

«Infraero is one of the most important airport operators in our region and has almost fifty years of experience in Brazilian air transport», said Rafael Echevarne, General Director of ACI-LAC. Referring to the certification of Santos Dumont Airport, he stressed that it «demonstrates the commitment of a national public company to sustainable development and to the quality of services provided to passengers».
