    Avianca inaugurated its new direct route on December 2 between Tocumen International Airport in Panama City and José María Córdova International Airport serving Medellín, Colombia. With this launch, the airline offers two daily flights operated on Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers, totaling over 5,000 monthly seats between the two destinations.

    According to Rolando Damas, Avianca’s Sales Director for North America, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean, «this new connection reinforces the airline’s commitment to its customers in Panama, offering a direct option to explore Medellín, known as the «City of Eternal Spring.» The route also aims to foster tourism and business between the two cities.

    Schedules for the new route

    Flights operate daily with the following schedules:

    • Panama-Medellín: AV323 (11:20-12:30) and AV317 (15:34-16:44).
    • Medellín-Panama: AV322 (13:25-14:40) and AV316 (18:00-19:15).

    Tickets are available on Avianca’s website, the mobile app, and travel agencies.

    Medellín, a strategic hub for Avianca

    This inauguration is part of Avianca’s strategy to consolidate Medellín as a strategic hub in Colombia. With the addition of this route, the airline will reach 30 direct destinations from José María Córdova International Airport by the end of the year, including 12 domestic and 18 international.

    Avianca transported over 4.7 million passengers from January to September 2024, a 50% increase compared to 2019. Among the international destinations connecting Medellín are Buenos Aires, Madrid, Lima, New York, and Santiago. In December, São Paulo and Guayaquil will also be added.
