REX Airlines has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the lease of two Boeing 737-800 Next Generation. The aircraft are expected to arrive in Australia in June and July 2023, increasing REX’s fleet to nine 737-800NGs.

«REX’s domestic aircraft services have performed very strongly and have been profitable over the past four months. The traveling public has been clamoring for our reliable and affordable services in light of the shameless price increases by Qantas and these new additions will help to alleviate the situation,» said Hon John Sharp AM, vice president, REX Airlines

«We are still deciding where to deploy these additional aircraft and are exploring all options,» Sharp added.

In December 2022, REX reported profitability on its domestic operations with Boeing 737 aircraft, posting a profit before tax (PBT) of $4.0 million, an improvement from $1.9 million in October and $2.8 million in November.

In October 2022 the Australian airline began interline service with Delta Air Lines, giving customers the option to connect to more than 40 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Reciprocally, Delta travelers will have access to all 58 domestic destinations offered by REX in Australia.
