Argentine Government Formalizes the Sale Process for State-Owned Handling Company
The entire share package will be sold through a national and international public tender, with an eight-month execution period.
The Argentine National Government is moving forward with the privatization of the state-owned company Intercargo S.A.U., in accordance with Resolution 1067/2025 published in the Official Gazette. The process involves the sale of 100% of the share package through a public tender open to national and international bidders, setting a deadline of eight months for its full completion.
This measure is carried out in compliance with the "Ley de Bases" (Bases Law), which lists Intercargo among the companies subject to privatization. The decision aligns with President Milei's policy of reducing state involvement in business activities.
The Ministry of Economy has instructed the relevant bodies to implement the necessary actions. The Secretariat of Transport will prepare the bidding and contractual documents, with the intervention of the Public Companies Transformation Agency. Additionally, the Secretariat must update the company's asset inventory and manage the rescission of the current concession contract with the State for ramp services.
For its part, the Public Companies Transformation Agency will coordinate the process timeline and request a valuation of the company's share package from a public bank. The entire procedure will be managed through the official digital platforms SUBAST.AR and CONTRAT.AR.
What is happening with ramp services in Argentina? The privatization of Intercargo is occurring in parallel with the deregulation of ramp services, a measure that ended the state-owned company's monopoly. As a result, six new companies have already been authorized to operate at the country's airports: MNZS S.A., Global Protection Service S.A., Fly Seg, Air Class Cargo, Handyway Cargo S.A., and Escalum Investment S.A..
The Undersecretariat of Air Transport is responsible for ensuring the continuity of ramp services, thereby maintaining national and international connectivity during the transition.
The ultimate goal of these actions is to enhance the competitiveness of the air commercial sector, with the expectation of encouraging greater investment in infrastructure and providing higher-quality services for both airlines and passengers.
