The AN-225 was destroyed during a battle at Gostomel airport. In early February, a little less than a month before, the Antonov AN-225, the world’s largest commercial aircraft made a flight to Billund (Denmark). As we previously reported, the outbound flight to Scandinavia was posted by Antonov pilot Dmytro on his YouTube channel.

The return to his home in Ukraine was also recorded by local citizens. The video, however, had not been released until now. It was posted by the Telegram channel Voyna Real (Real War) on February 6, a day after the landing of the huge, iconic aircraft. (Source: Aeroin)

In the footage (below), it can be seen that, even in the midst of snow, the population gathers at the head of Antonov Airport in Gostomel, located 25 kilometers northwest of Kiev, to watch the arrival of the huge plane. According to the caption of the video, the plane was carrying ammunition to Kiev on the eve of the war.

On Thursday morning, March 3, the whole world learned of a video, recorded near the hangar where the An-225 was located and showing it still smoking and slumped tilted to the ground, possibly destroyed.

Watch the arrival of the Antonov An-225, recorded on February 5, on its last flight before burning. These are images that will go down in history.
