    American Airlines restores much of its Asia-Pacific network as the borders of several countries have opened their doors to international tourists, recently the U.S. airline has resumed services in Australia and New Zealand.

    New Zealand

    After 32 months, American resumes service to New Zealand with unprecedented nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Auckland (AKL) with daily flights on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with 285 seats in three classes. Prior to the pandemic crisis this route was planned for winter 2022, but these plans were shelved.

    Flight AA35 took off on October 30 from Dallas Airport (DFW) at 00:25 local time and landed at Auckland International Airport (AKL) at 09:21 the following day, after 14 hours and 57 minutes.

    This service will be seasonal during the austral summer and will be available until March 25, 2023. American will be the second carrier to offer nonstop operations between Texas and New Zealand.

    American resumes operations in Australia, after a 5-month suspension, the airline resumed service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Sydney (SYD) with daily Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flights, the first transpacific service to resume at LAX this year.

    Flight AA 73 took off on October 27 from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 00:04 local time and landed at Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) at 08:34 the following day, after 14 hours and 30 minutes.

    • Sydney – Los Angeles Flight AA 72 SYD 11:15 – LAX 07:04 daily flights.

    Currently its joint venture and alliance partner, Qantas offers twenty-one weekly operations from its main hubs in Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL) and Brisbane (BNE) to LAX. Between them, the two airlines will offer 15,960 seats per week between Australia and Los Angeles (LAX).

    According to data obtained through the Department of Infrastructure, Transportation, Cities and Regional Development, American Airlines moved 184,907 passengers and 3,234.9 tons of freight and mail between the United States and Australia in the June 2018-2019 period.
