Aeroméxico resumes direct flights between Mexico City and Philadelphia
Mexico’s flag carrier has launched daily flights between AICM and Pennsylvania’s main airport, further strengthening its cross-border network.
Aeroméxico launched regular service on Friday, June 6, between Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), restoring the only nonstop air link between the two cities. This new route marks another step in the airline’s ongoing expansion in the cross-border market.

The inaugural flight, AM 608, was operated with a Boeing 737 MAX registered XA-DRA. The aircraft departed Mexico City at 1:58 p.m. local time and, after a four-hour and 14-minute journey, landed in the U.S. at 8:12 p.m..
With this addition, the Aeroméxico–Delta Air Lines alliance strengthens its footprint on the U.S. East Coast. Philadelphia, a major economic and cultural hub, had not been connected directly to Mexico City since January 2019, when American Airlines discontinued the route, which it operated with Airbus A319s. According to airport data, demand for air travel from Philadelphia to Mexico has grown steadily, increasing by 8.3% annually since 2014 and surging by 50% since the end of the pandemic.
The new service operates daily with the following schedule:
• Flight AM 608: Departs Mexico City at 1:35 p.m., arriving in Philadelphia at 8:31 p.m.
• Flight AM 609: Departs Philadelphia at 10:02 a.m., arriving in Mexico City at 12:55 p.m.
Aeroméxico is using its modern Boeing 737-8 aircraft for this route, configured to carry 166 passengers, including 16 seats in Clase Premier and 150 in Main Cabin.
Which airlines fly nonstop from Mexico to Philadelphia?
Currently, Aeroméxico is the only airline offering nonstop service between Mexico City (MEX) and Philadelphia (PHL). The route operates daily and is part of the Joint Cooperation Agreement (JCA) with Delta Air Lines.
The launch is part of a broader growth strategy by Aeroméxico and its U.S. partner. In recent months, Aeroméxico has added destinations such as Raleigh-Durham, Phoenix Sky Harbor, Tampa, and Newark. Simultaneously, Delta Air Lines has increased service to Mexican tourist hotspots like Cancún and the new Tulum airport from various U.S. cities, further solidifying a robust network aimed at dominating the world’s largest cross-border air market.
