Bonza announces its third base at Gold Coast Airport with two aircraft confirmed to operate to the company’s existing destinations: Albury, Bundaberg, Cairns, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne Avalon, Melbourne Tullamarine, Mildura, Rockhampton, Townsville and Whitsunday Coast. Promotional fares are available from $49 each way.
“Today’s announcement is about creating more depth in our network by connecting Bonza’s existing destinations to the Gold Coast and also the gateway from there to northern New South Wales. It’s a great boost to the economy and allows people from our existing destinations the opportunity to book an affordable flight to Gold Coast Airport and take a well-deserved vacation or long-awaited visit to friends and family,” said Tim Jordan, CEO of Bonza.
The low cost airline confirms that it will have new destinations connecting to the Gold Coast and will be introduced shortly. This new phase of Bonza’s growth will offer 70 new weekly flights and almost 700,000 annual seats at Gold Coast Airport. This demonstrates support for the Queensland airline industry, but also for Bonza’s 11 destinations that are experiencing record growth, such as Avalon and Albury.
The announcement of the new base will create more than 100 direct jobs, with recruitment commencing immediately. In a first phase, Bonza will partner with an airline provider of wet leasing services to offer its customers the ability to fly during school vacations and the year-end holiday season at a time when the global supply of aircraft is limited.
“Bonza will not only attract more tourists to the Gold Coast and Northern NSW region, giving our destination the opportunity to showcase our region, but will also open up connections for our locals to communicate with loved ones across regional Australia,” Amelia Evans, Managing Director of Queensland Airports Limited.
Bonza has long been a contributor to Queensland’s connectivity, the new Gold Coast expansion will boost the local economy. The low-cost airline has also partnered with Queensland Airport Limited, which manages Townsville Airport, to which the company operates from the Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton and Toowoomba Wellcamp.
