    Effective March 19, 2023, Japan Airlines is increasing its flights to Hawaii by adding extra operations to its services from Tokyo/Narita (NRT), Osaka/Kansai (KIX) and Nagoya/Chubu (NGO) to Honolulu (HNL). The company has yet to resume service to Kona (KOA).

    According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Japan Airlines will have a mid-March offering of 15,664 weekly seats between Japan and Hawaii, this represents a 63.7% recovery from 2019 levels. Currently, the Japanese airline offers twice-daily flights between Tokyo/Haneda (HND) and Honolulu (HNL) on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

    Osaka/Kansai (KIX)

    Increases from one weekly frequency to three weekly flights.

    • Osaka – Honolulu Flight JL 792 KIX 22:15 – HNL 11:00 Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
    • Honolulu – Osaka Flight JL 791 HNL 13:40 – KIX 18:45+1 Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
    Nagoya/Chubu (NGO)

    Increases from one weekly frequency to three weekly flights.

    • Nagoya – Honolulu Flight JL 794 NGO 22:00 – HNL 10:30 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
    • Honolulu – Nagoya Flight JL 793 HNL 13:00 – NGO 17:30+1 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
    Tokyo/Narita (NRT) second service

    Increases from one weekly frequency to three weekly flights. JL 784/ JL 783 services will continue to operate daily on Boeing 787s.

    • Narita – Honolulu Flight JL 8786 NRT 19:45 – HNL 07:50 Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
    • Honolulu – Narita Flight JL 8785 HNL 14:30 – NRT 18:45+1 Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

    Services from Osaka, Nagoya and Narita (JL 8786/JL 8785) will be operated on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with a capacity of 199 seats in two classes (24 Business Class/175 Economy).

    According to data compiled through Cirium, Japan Airlines is the second largest carrier in the Japan-Hawaii market in terms of seats per seat kilometers (ASK), behind only Hawaiian Airlines. In addition, the segment between Tokyo and Honolulu is one of the transpacific routes in the United States, according to U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) data, 2,094,089 passengers flew between the two cities.
