[Colombia] Avianca prepares for the holiday week: 5800 flights planned

-

During the week off Avianca plans to operate more than 5,800 flights to transport more than 820,000 customers, connecting them with more than 65 destinations in the Americas and Europe.

Among the favorite destinations for Colombians this season are Bogota, San Andres and Riohacha, and on international routes, Madrid, New York, and Montevideo.
To have a smooth operation and to ensure that travelers receive a timely and quality service, it will be essential to continue working together with the authorities, airlines, and concessionaires.

1. Departure and entry processes to Colombia: The coordinated work between Migración Colombia, the Civil Aeronautics and the airlines will continue to be paramount to achieve a successful season. The presence of available migration officers, as well as the arrival of travelers 3 hours in advance at the migration modules, are factors that will facilitate and expedite the operation.

2. Operational and weather challenges at El Dorado: Reliable weather forecasts will make it possible to adequately plan the operation and foresee more complex weather conditions, thus helping to manage the impact of capacity reductions due to bad weather or low visibility.

In addition, considering the high influx of people at the different airports, Avianca recommends to its customers:

1. Arrive at the airport 3 hours in advance for domestic and international flights.
2. Consult with the authorities of their country of destination regarding entry requirements, as well as to have vaccination card and/or PCR test at hand when entering Colombia.
3. Make use of BioMig’s automatic machines to carry out migratory processes in only 20 seconds. If not registered in BioMig, travelers may request a Migration officer to register for future trips.
4. For security reasons, carry in hand luggage items such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, portable external chargers (Power Banks) and any object containing lithium batteries.
5. Review the conditions of the fare purchased. Avianca now offers more options to its travelers to fly how and with what they need, so it is necessary to read the conditions of the fare purchased and what it includes in terms of baggage, seats, and benefits.

“The week of recess is the perfect opportunity for many families to travel to their favorite destinations, this is why the influx of travelers increases for these dates, which requires strong cooperation between airlines, aviation authorities and migration to streamline processes.

Likewise, passenger compliance with punctuality requirements at airports and entry to their destinations will facilitate the success of this week,” said Frederico Pedreira, Chief Operating Officer of Avianca.
