Delta expands its European network with 9 routes and two new destinations

Delta Air Lines expands its European network for the 2023 summer boreal season with 9 routes and two new destinations including Geneva (GVA), where the airline’s last service to that city was in 1993. The airline is adding 8% more seats on its transatlantic flights compared to summer 2022.

Much of the new service is from its major transatlantic hubs including Atlanta (ATL) and New York (JFK), plus it will reconnect Los Angeles (LAX) to the Old Continent. Delta’s last nonstop service between Europe and LAX was completed in March 2020.

«Next summer, Delta will provide customers with greater access to popular destinations across the transatlantic and continue to solidify its position as the number one airline in New York,» said Joe Esposito, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning.

«With nearly 620 weekly flights and connectivity to 32 destinations in Europe and beyond, customers will have a wealth of iconic destinations to explore and unparalleled travel to enjoy across the pond,» he added.

New York (JFK)

To bolster its main transatlantic hub, Delta will make its largest schedule at JFK for next summer by offering 220 weekly flights to 26 destinations, including new daily services to:

  • Geneva (GVA) beginning April 10.
  • London – Gatwick (LGW) beginning April 10 (last operated at this destination in 2012).
  • Berlin – Brandenburg (BER) starting May 25 (resumption last service to the German capital was in summer 2019).

In addition, Delta is adding a third seasonal frequency to Rome – Fiumicino (FCO) starting May 25 and running daily.

The Atlanta-based airline continues to invest in airport infrastructure at JFK, where it will include a new Delta Sky Club in Terminal 4’s A Concourse and a Delta One Club, to elevate its customers’ premium experience.

Atlanta (ATL)

From its mega hub the company will resume two German routes, making Delta the U.S. carrier with the most destinations in Germany and will add a new service to Scotland:

  • Dusseldorf (DUS) starting May 9 with three weekly flights (resumption after the pandemic).
  • Edinburgh (EDI) from 25 May with five flights a week (last operated on this route in 2007).
  • Stuttgart (STR) from March 26 with three weekly flights (resumption after the pandemic).

Recently the airline from Atlanta scheduled two new transatlantic services including Tel Aviv which will start by summer 2023 and Cape Town (CPT) which will start by this winter season.

Los Angeles (LAX)

After more than 3 years, Delta will reconnect LAX to Europe with the addition of two routes to France and the United Kingdom, both routes will offer daily flights:

  • London – Heathrow (LHR) starting May 25 (last operated this route in 2015).
  • Paris (CDG) starting May 8 (last operation in March 2020).

The Atlanta-based airline continues to restore its international network from LAX with the resumption of service to Tokyo Haneda (HND) for this winter and new unpublished service to Tahiti.
