GOL expands in southern Brazil to four new destinations

CEO and president of GOL Linhas Aéreas, Paulo Kakinoff, met with the Rio Grande do Sul authorities last Wednesday 17 in Porto Alegre to announce the launch of operations in four new regional destinations of the company in the state.

The four new cities of Pelotas, Uruguaiana, Santo Ângelo and Santa Maria will have direct flights to São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) by 2022. In total, GOL will have flights to 7 destinations in Rio Grande do Sul, including the current ones: Porto Alegre, Caxias do Sul and Passo Fundo.

As detailed in our partner media in Brazil, Aeroin, on January 17, 2022, operations will start in Pelotas (PET), an important city in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, with customers with a corporate and leisure profile, as well as from local universities. This route will be operated with GOL’s Boeing 737-700 jet, with a capacity for 138 passengers.

In addition to Pelotas, the city of Santo Ângelo (GEL) will receive direct flights to São Paulo / Guarulhos (GRU) also operated with Boeing 737-700 aircraft, starting July 4, 2022.

The Uruguaiana (URG) – Guarulhos (GRU) route is the result of a partnership between GOL and VOEPASS. It will begin on April 4, 2022, with three weekly frequencies, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, both outbound and return. In this case, tickets are sold exclusively by GOL, and flights are operated by the partner company with ATR 72 aircraft, which has a capacity of 68 passengers. This route also opens up a new option for the Argentine city of Paso de los Libres and others in the northeast of that country.

Also through a partnership between GOL and VOEPASS, the Santa Maria (RIA) -Guarulhos (GRU) route will have operations starting October 26, 2022.

Ticket sales to both Pelotas and Uruguaiana are already in effect. Sales to Santo Ângelo and Santa Maria (RS) will begin in the first quarter of 2022.

Flight schedules were designed so that customers in the Rio Grande do Sul have quick access in Guarulhos to the connections that GOL offers throughout the country and abroad, and for Brazilians from different states, so that they can travel to cities in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul with agility and comfort.
