Embraer tests the C-390 Millenium on unprepared runways

The renowned Brazilian aeronautical company reported through its Twitter account that it is carrying out a test campaign to validate the capabilities of its C-390 Millenium to operate on unpaved runways.

According to our partner site Aeroin, the tests are being carried out at the Embraer unit in Gavião Peixoto, in the interior of São Paulo.

In the images can be seen that the tests are carried out near the main track of the Embraer Defense & Security headquarters, on land specially prepared for this round of testing.

Starting from the promontory of the asphalt runway, the specific 1,800-meter dirt runway has been built at the facility, and evaluations will be carried out in the coming weeks to analyze the effective operation of the multi-mission aircraft.

In the images can be observed part of the tests, where the aircraft makes a takeoff run (or high speed taxiing), raising a lot of dust and dirt from the ground. After this first stage, Embraer will conduct a series of takeoffs and landings on that runway, under different conditions and load configurations.

With this type of tests, Embraer seeks to certify the C-390 Millenium to operate in the most diverse and demanding operating conditions.

Before this stage, in May of this year, the most recent certification of the largest aircraft ever designed and built in Brazil was the combat unloading, after showing itself capable of delivering cargo without ground support or without enough time for a standard unloading, complying with all the requirements demanded by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).
