    Mexico is the most important Latin American market for Southwest, as well as for the majority of airlines from United States that have international operations.

    Southwest has flights to Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta and San Jose del Cabo. The airline has a major presence in Cancun, with almost 12 routes, followed by Los Cabos with 9, Puerto Vallarta with 4 and Cozumel with one.

    Currently, according to Cirium’s platform, the airline has 784 confirmed flights to Mexico in May. Each route has a different frequency of flights, caused by the demand.

    Southwest connects Cancun with Austin, Baltimore, Chicago-Midway, Columbus, Denver, Houston-Hobby, Indianapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Antonio and Saint Louis, all on Boeing 737-700s.

    To and from Los Cabos the airline has flights to Austin, Baltimore, Chicago-Midway, Denver, Houston-Hobby, Orange County, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Diego, also on Southwest’s Boeing 737.

    In Puerto Vallarta Southwest Airlines operates from Denver, Houston, Phoenix and Orange County, with 7 flights per week on each route. Cozumel has Houston-Hobby as a destination from the airline, with a daily frequency.

    From June 12th, Southwest plans to fly, for the summer season, between Pittsburgh and Cancun. This flights will be once a week in the Boeing 737-700, with a capacity for 142 passengers.

    Southwest Airlines has scheduled a total of 781 flights to Mexico from United States in June, higher numbers than before the COVID-19 pandemic. In June, 2019, the airline had 696 operations offering 100,136 seats, when in June, 2021, Southwest will offer 111,683 seats.
