Delta starts flights between New York and Geneva

On April 10, Delta Air Lines began nonstop flights between New York (JFK) and Geneva (GVA) as part of its transatlantic expansion for the 2023 summer season. With the start of this route, four airlines now provide transatlantic flights at Switzerland’s second largest airport.

Flight DL 100 was operated on a Boeing 767 registered as N1201P, which took off from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) at 21:05 local time and landed at Geneva International Airport (GVA) at 09:54 the following day, after six hours and 49 minutes.

The carrier will have 6,048 weekly seats on offer between Switzerland and the United States, a 100% increase when compared to 2022 levels. In addition to the route to Geneva (GVA), Delta also has daily year-round flights between New York (JFK) and Zurich (ZRH) operated on Boeing 767s.

The route is operated on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with 216 seats in four classes (26 Delta One/18 Premium Select/21 Comfort+/151 Main Cabin) and promotional fares are available from USD 880 roundtrip. Customers can connect to multiple North American destinations offered by the airline through its main transatlantic hub at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).

According to data obtained by aviacionline through Geneva Airport statistics, 229,227 were mobilized between GVA and the New York metropolitan area in 2019, the Big Apple is GVA’s main transatlantic market. Delta competes in this segment with Star Alliance carriers SWISS and United Airlines.

This new nonstop service is expected to have a significant impact on the region by strengthening the tourism industry, increasing flexibility and travel options for the diplomatic sector, and increasing the cargo market.
