New destinations and airlines at Munich Airport: these are the highlights of summer 2023

For the 2023 summer season, Munich Airport (MUC) will have new destinations and welcome a new airline.

Lufthansa, the largest company in the Bavarian capital, will resume several long-haul services such as Osaka, Japan (KIX) and Mexico City (MEX). In addition, thanks to China’s opening, the company will resume its routes to Beijing – Capital (PEK) and Shanghai – Pudong (PVG).

In the short/medium-haul market, the German airline will have new services to Bordeaux, France (BOD), Rzeszow, Poland (RZE) and Asturias, Spain (OVD). Lufthansa is reactivating four Airbus A380 aircraft to operate flights between Munich (MUC) and North America for the summer season. The German company will be offering nearly the same number of destinations as it operated before the pandemic.

The flight offering to China will be complemented by the return of Air China, which plans to reactivate its services to Shanghai – Pudong (PVG) and Beijing – Capital (PEK) for the summer.

In the Japanese market, Lufthansa will increase its flights to Tokyo and All Nippon Airways will resume operations in the Bavarian capital after three years with a service from Haneda (HND) with three weekly flights on Boeing 787 starting March 26.

EasyJet will add a non-stop service between Naples (NAP) and Munich (MUC) starting March 28 with three weekly flights. On June 27, Croatia Airlines will launch its sixth destination in the Bavarian capital with a new route from Brač (BWR), which will complement its operations from Zagreb (ZAG), Split (SPU), Dubrovnik (DBV), Rijeka (RJK) and Osijek (OSI).

A new airline will begin operations in Munich (MUC) this summer. Fly One is scheduled to have seasonal service from Chisinau (KIV) starting June 28 with twice-weekly flights operated on Airbus A320s.

“With a large number of airlines and a wide variety of destinations in the upcoming summer flight schedule, we are well on track to return to our pre-crisis level and further increase the attractiveness of our premium hub,” said Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport.
