Low-cost airline Flybondi closes 40% wage increase for employees

The employees of Flybondi grouped in the Flybondi Workers’ Union Association (ATAF in Spanish) signed an agreement with the ultra low-cost airline to increase salaries by 40% starting this month.

The increase will be based on the gross monthly wages corresponding to March and applies to all remunerations, fixed and variable, including travel allowances for commissions and services.

ATAF highlighted being “the first aeronautical union to close its first collective bargaining agreement of 2023 with salary increases that allow the recovery of the entire accumulated inflation so far this year, and to reach the next collective bargaining negotiation with a real wage increase”.

Both parties, they clarified, have committed to periodically review remunerations and inflation rates to “keep the purchasing power of employees updated”.

Until last year, this was done twice a year, but Argentina’s new inflationary dynamics, with a year-on-year variation already exceeding 100%, may require more frequent reviews.

Flybondi Employees

Flybondi currently has around 1,200 employees, twice as many as just a year ago, in line with the expansion plan they announced at the beginning of 2022. Of the 600 new hires, 250 were pilots and cabin crew.

According to information provided by the company to Aviacionline at the end of January, Flybondi’s workforce includes more than 200 people from the “Centennial” generation; 700 from the “Millennial” generation; 200 from Generation “X”; and 40 people from the “Baby Boomer” generation.

On that occasion, Cecilia Rustichelli, Talent Manager at Flybondi, said that “without a doubt, what we achieved in 2022 with the 2X Plan was a huge challenge. Today, we are more than 1,200 flybondiers across the country, which means we doubled the number of people in just one year. And it was possible thanks to the great work done by the People team: we conducted over 3,500 interviews and managed to bring in more than 600 professionals.”

The ultra low-cost carrier expects to have more than 1,600 employees throughout Argentina by the end of 2023.
