United will have 9 new routes by summer 2023

United expands its transatlantic operations with 9 new routes: with these new services for its summer schedule, it will continue to be the largest airline with increased seat capacity and frequencies between North America and Europe.

By summer 2023, the Chicago-based carrier will have 20% more seat capacity than the same offered in 2019, exceeding pre-pandemic levels.

“Next summer United is offering the best of both worlds: we’re making it easier for our customers to visit Europe’s most popular cities, but we’re also expanding our reach to give travelers access to new places they haven’t yet experienced,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of global network planning and alliances.

“We’re looking forward to another busy summer for international travel and are proud to leverage our industry-leading global network to offer our customers the widest range of destinations and the most convenient travel options”

United Summer 2023

Suttle to London Heathrow

By the northern summer of 2023, United will have 23 daily flights to London Heathrow (LHR), will be the carrier’s top transatlantic destination in seat capacity and frequencies and will be served through all of its hubs and a point-to-point route to Boston (BOS):

Los Angeles (LAX) – London Heathrow (LHR) (2nd daily flight)
  • UA 229 LAX 12:55 – LHR 07:25+1
  • UA 230 LHR 11:05 – LAX 14:10

This new service will begin on March 25, 2023, and will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

United increases its offer of destinations to Spain

During this summer 2022 season it became the airline with the largest offering of destinations in Spain, starting May 31, 2023, it adds a new seasonal service between Newark (EWR) and Malaga (AGP) with three weekly flights operated on Boeing 757-200. The airline’s Spanish network will consist of Madrid (MAD), Barcelona (BCN), Palma de Mallorca (PMI) and Tenerife – South (TFS).

From Catalonia, United is adding a third daily service starting May 25, 2023, with a new route between Chicago (ORD) – Barcelona (BCN) operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, complementing its services from Newark (EWR) and Washington – Dulles (IAD). The airline will offer 14 European destinations from O’Hare International Airport (ORD) for the northern summer season.

Washington – Dulles trans-Atlantic reinforcement

Washington – Dulles (IAD) is United’s second major transatlantic hub, in recent years IAD has welcomed new European services such as Athens (ATH). The airline will strengthen its network with a new route to Berlin (BER) with daily Boeing 767-400ER flights starting May 25, 2023, this will be the carrier’s third German destination from the U.S. capital.

In addition, from June 2, 2023, it will increase its operations to Paris (CDG) with a second daily flight operated on Boeing 787-8s. United also serves the French capital from Newark (EWR), San Francisco (SFO) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD).

New service from Shannon

By next summer, United will be the leading North American carrier with increased destination and seat offerings at Shannon (SNN) with the introduction of new seasonal service from Chicago (ORD) with daily Boeing 757-200-operated flights beginning May 25, 2023, complementing its operations from Newark (EWR).

The Chicago-based carrier is one of Ireland’s leading long-haul operators, and from Dublin (DUB) offers service to Newark (EWR), Chicago (ORD) and Washington – Dulles (IAD).

New European destination from San Francisco (SFO)

United will connect Italy to the U.S. West Coast with unprecedented service between San Francisco (SFO) and Rome – Fiumicino (FCO) with daily flights operated on Boeing 777-200ERs beginning May 25, 2023. By summer 2023, the carrier will offer five flights to the Italian capital from Newark (EWR), Chicago (ORD) and Washington – Dulles (IAD) and now from SFO.

Back to Sweden

The company returns to Sweden from its last operation since 2019, starting May 25, 2023, seasonal service returns between Newark (EWR) and Stockholm – Arlanda (ARN) with daily flights on Boeing 757-200s.

New Middle East destination

Thanks to its codeshare partnership with Emirates, United returns to Dubai (DXB) beginning March 25, 2023, with daily service from Newark (EWR) operated on Boeing 777-200ERs. The carrier will be the only U.S. carrier to fly to DXB and passengers have the option to connect to multiple destinations in the Middle East and Indian subcontinent.
