Venezuela requests Wingo to suspend flights to Caracas

-

In a new episode of the controversial return of the air link between Colombia and Venezuela, the Colombian low-cost airline Wingo, a subsidiary of the Panamanian Copa Airlines, informed that the Venezuelan authorities have requested it to suspend its scheduled, authorized – and sold – operations on the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá route.

The company issued a statement indicating that “The Government of Venezuela has requested Wingo to suspend the start of its air operations, which were initially scheduled and authorized for October 4.”

“As we have been informed,” – it continues – “this temporary suspension is pending resolution of issues between the Governments of Colombia and Venezuela regarding the airlines approved to operate flights between the two countries.”

“The Airline will contact travelers who had already purchased tickets for this route in order to offer them alternative routes. Wingo provides a message of reassurance to passengers affected by this momentary suspension and hopes to be the airline that connects them very soon with their loved ones.”

The company closes its statement saying that “Wingo reiterates its commitment to air connectivity between Colombia and Venezuela, always within the terms and conditions determined by the two governments.”
