Lufthansa’s cargo division, so Germanically called Lufthansa Cargo, took delivery of its second Airbus A321 converted freighter (P2F).

The airline announced that it welcomed its second unit of the type last Friday. The aircraft, which will join the medium-haul network under the registration D-AEUA and the name “Merhaba Türkiye” (Hello Turkey in Turkish), landed in Munich at 17:36 local time on Friday, September 16. Flying from Singapore, the plane stopped in Bangkok, Muscat, and Larnaca.

This A321 spent the last few months undergoing a series of works in the workshops of Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), which, together with Airbus and ST Engineering, carried out the refurbishment of the aircraft. Among other things, the floor was reinforced, a roller system for moving cargo was fitted, and a cargo door was installed on the main deck.

In total, Lufthansa customers will have 14 container positions on the main deck and 10 on the lower deck, totaling a payload of 28 tons. The range of the plane, operating at maximum load, is 3,500 kilometers.

The aircraft will join its twin, named “Hello Europe” and registered as D-AEUC. It will begin scheduled service in October, operated by Lufthansa CityLine. The airline noted that this new aircraft would contribute significantly to expanding e-commerce services on the European network, enabling new destinations such as Birmingham, London, and Madrid from the approaching northern winter.

The first A321 has flown more than 400 flights since its debut on March 15 this year connecting Frankfurt (FRA) to Dublin (DUB).
