ITA Airways increases flights to New York

ITA Airways will increase its flights between Rome – Fiumicino (FCO) and New York (JFK): between July 30 and September 17 the airline will offer 17 weekly flights and will have an offer of 9,396 seats per week. During this period, ITA will be the main operator in this route.

Data obtained by Aviacionline through the Ente Nazionale Per L’Aviazione Civile (ENAC) indicates that 789,066 passengers were mobilized in 2019 between Rome (FCO) and New York (JFK), the main intercontinental route from Fiumicino Airport and the second between Italy and the United States.

ITA Airways will compete in this sector with American Airlines, which offers seasonal service, and Delta Air Lines, which operates two daily flights.

Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – New York (JFK)
  • Flight AZ 602 FCO 09:40 – JFK 13:25 daily flights.
  • Flight AZ 608 FCO 10:25 – JFK 14:00 daily flights.
  • Flight AZ 610 FCO 15:10 – JFK 18:55 Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
New York (JFK) – Rome Fiumicino (FCO)
  • Flight AZ 603 JFK 15:35 – FCO 06:10+1 flights daily.
  • Flight AZ 609 JFK 16:15 – FCO 06:40+1 flights daily.
  • Flight AZ 611 JFK 21:40 – FCO 12:15+1 Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

The flights will be operated on Airbus A350-900 and Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a capacity of 334 seats in two classes (33 Business Class/301 Economy) and 250 seats in three classes (20 Business Class/17 Premium Economy/219 Economy) respectively.

According to data compiled by ENAC indicate that prior to the pandemic North America was the main long-haul market in Italy. In 2019, 5,469,727 passengers were mobilized between the two regions, Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport (FCO) was the main gateway to the United States and Canada.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline, ITA will have an offer of 24,292 seats per week and 90 air operations for the summer season:

Rome Fiumicino (FCO)
  • Boston (BOS) daily flights on Airbus A330-200.
  • New York (JFK) 17 flights per week on Airbus A330-200 and Airbus A350-900.
  • Miami (MIA) daily flights on Airbus A330-200.
  • Los Angeles (LAX) daily flights on Airbus A350-900.
Milan Malpensa (MXP)
  • New York (JFK) daily flights on Airbus A330-200.
