Copa Airlines Announces Flights to St. Lucia Airport

Starting September 26, 2022, Copa Airlines will begin nonstop service between Panama – Tocumen (PTY) and Santa Lucia Airport (NLU) with three weekly flights, serving the Mexico City metropolitan area, the company’s fifth destination in the Aztec country.

Copa becomes the first airline in Central America and the second internationally to begin scheduled passenger operations at Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA).

Flight Itinerary

  • Panama Tocumen – Mexico City Flight CM 119 PTY 09:20 – NLU 13:22 Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.
  • Mexico City – Panama Tocumen Flight CM 117 NLU 15:29 – PTY 19:22 Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Flights will be operated in Boeing 737 – 800 NG aircraft with 154 and 160 seats respectively in two classes (16 Business Class/138-144 Economy). Promotional fares start at $278 USD each way.

With Copa’s arrival at Santa Lucia Airport (NLU), it will be able to offer travelers the connection to more than seventy destinations that the company has at its disposal from the “Hub of the Americas”.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), Panama is Mexico’s main Central American market. Between January and April 2022, 402,558 passengers were flown on 3,153 flights between the two nations with an occupancy factor of 78.7%, representing a 79.4% recovery in capacity compared to pre-pandemic levels.

In 2021, Copa Airlines mobilized 1,049,606 passengers and 3,286.04 tons of cargo in 8,205 air operations between Panama and the Aztec country, through four destinations.

Copa Airlines Schedule in Mexico beginning September 26th

Copa will have an offer of 30,972 seats per week in 198 air operations to Mexico, being the largest Central American operator to the Aztec country, the schedule is as follows:

  • Cancun (CUN) eight daily flights on Boeing 737 MAX 9 and 737-800.
  • Guadalajara (GDL) four weekly flights in Boeing 737-700.
  • Monterrey (MTY) three weekly flights on Boeing 737-700.
  • Mexico City (MEX) 33 flights per week on Boeing 737-800.
  • Santa Lucia (NLU) three flights per week on Boeing 737-800.

The company still has suspended operations to Puerto Vallarta (PVR).
