SKY Airline launches flights to Miami

SKY Airline lands for the first time in the United States with its new route Lima (LIM) – Miami (MIA) – Lima (LIM), as a part of the airline’s international expansion plan and to strengthen air connectivity in Peru with other countries.

“Continuing with our expansion plan in South America, we are very pleased to launch our sixth international route departing from Peru. With great expectations, we will start flying from Lima to Miami next June 7th. We will become the first Peruvian low-cost airline to reach the United States, with direct flights at low fares,” said José Raúl Vargas, general manager of SKY in Peru.

The low-cost company will offer promotional fares from USD 264 round trip from Peru, including airport taxes. These fares will be available from April 18 to 24 and apply for flights between June 7 and September 30, 2022.

Flight Itinerary

  • Lima – Miami Flight H8-5590 LIM 01:05 – MIA 07:55 Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Miami – Lima Flight H8-5591 MIA 09:35 – LIM 14:35 Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Services will start on June 7 initially, five times a week operation is proposed, SKY plans to offer flights every day by August. The carrier projects to mobilize more than 9,000 passengers per month.

“We believe that this launch will help us to continue positioning ourselves in Peru, since Miami is one of the preferred international destinations for Peruvians, so we expect to achieve one daily flight by August and transport more than 9,000 passengers per month. This new route will allow us to continue growing in the region, while contributing to the arrival of more tourists to Peru,” added Vargas.

The flights will be operated in modern A320neo aircraft with capacity for 186 passengers in a single class configuration.

In August 2020, SKY applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) for its permits to operate to Florida and these were approved in October of the same year, with the start of its flights it will be the only low-cost operator on the Lima (LIM) and Miami (MIA) route where it will compete against other legacy airlines such as LATAM and American.
