World2fly began operations to Cuba

Leisure airline Word2fly (2W) continues to increase its operations to the most popular holiday destinations for Europeans, with the introduction of its new service between Madrid (MAD) and Havana (HAV) on September 22, 2021, initially starting with two flights per week operated by Airbus A330-300 388-seat single class.

Flight Schedule

  • Madrid – Havana W2 1505 MAD 12:30 – HAV 16:00 two weekly flights on Wednesday and Sunday operated by Airbus A330-300.
  • Havana – Madrid W2 1506 HAV 18:30 – MAD 09:30+1 two weekly flights on Wednesday and Sunday operated by Airbus A330-300.

World2fly currently operates from Madrid (MAD) to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) and Punta Cana (PUJ), the company is awaiting certification of its Airbus A350-900 to increase capacity on its existing routes and to begin operations from its next base in Lisbon, Portugal (LIS).

Cuba is one of the preferred destinations for European tourists in the Caribbean, in recent years competition has intensified between the Caribbean country to Spain, with operators such as Iberia, Air Europa, Iberojet, Wamos Air, Cubana de Aviación and now World2fly joins them. Due to health restrictions the market between both nations has barely recovered 15.59% with respect to 2019 levels.

The airline’s initial strategy is to serve the most demanded sun and beach destinations in the Caribbean in the first phase. In August 2021, World2fly received permits from the Department of Transportation (DOT) to operate scheduled, charter and cargo flights to the United States.
