Sky Cana will land in New York in early December

-

During its official presentation at the “Riu Plaza Times Square” Hotel in Manhattan, Sky Cana’s president Frank Diaz announced that the airline will start its routes from Santiago and Santo Domingo to New York on December 2, with two daily flights, operated by Air Century. He also informed that the company will not charge for the first piece of luggage.

Sky Cana will contribute with 18,189 seats per month to the offer between the Dominican Republic and New York, according to CCVDigital. Diaz announced that “there will be a daily frequency to Santiago and another to Santo Domingo, departing from JFK’s Terminal 1. The arrival and departure times are yet to be confirmed”. On the other hand, Díaz added that “we will not seek to compete with the traditional airlines that operate these routes”.

Sky Cana will operate these routes with Airbus A330 aircraft, configured with 24 seats in business and 275 in economy. “They will carry the slogan Go Dominican Republic” to promote our country, Diaz said.

These planes were specially chosen because they have, unlike narrow-body aircraft, ovens to keep food warm. “In choosing the aircraft we have taken into account the ability to provide a different in-flight service, with typical food: mangú in the morning, moro and basically what we all know we look for when it’s time to eat,” he added. Finally, Diaz pointed out that “the ticket will include the first bag and hand luggage in the fare. Up to four additional pieces of luggage may be dispatched for a fee”.
