Flybondi expects rapid market recovery with Brazil when borders reopen

-

In March of last year Flybondi canceled its international routes to and from Argentina as a result of COVID-19 (Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay). The Argentine low cost operated regularly to Asunción, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and to Florianópolis and Punta del Este in terms of summer season routes.

According to the reservation system, Flybondi has again postponed the restart of its international routes until at least November. The Argentine company plans to resume flights to Asunción, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. For now, Porto Alegre, its fourth regular regional route prior to COVID-19, remains suspended.

The company planned to start these operations in October. Due to the pandemic, the limitations on international flights imposed by the Argentine government and its impact on demand generated this suspension.

In contact with Aviacionline, Mauricio Sana, CEO of Flybondi, explained that they expect the vaccination plan to be maintained and generate tranquility and predictability for passengers, pointing to a summer season with a reactivation of the flow of international and especially regional passengers.

“For Argentina, Brazil is the most important and necessary regional market, we understand that we are going to have a market with a rapid recovery, both emissive and receptive,” said Sana. “We are also closely monitoring the resumption of traffic to / from Paraguay, Uruguay and the other routes that we had planned before the pandemic,” he added.

Perspectives for the future

Asked if they maintain contact with the authorities regarding when the flights could be resumed, the manager said that “all the work this year and the operations that we have had been coordinated and worked together with the authorities”, but that “for international routes we still do not have confirmation of when it would return to some kind of normality.” In that sense, the scheduled programming from November gives them several months to wait for the epidemiological situation to improve.
