Río de Janeiro: Santos Dumont Airport is Half Way to Total Recovery

-

In line with the gradual recovery of commercial aviation observed during the month of September in Brazil, the Santos Dumont airport in Rio de Janeiro began October registering a day with a level of passenger traffic higher than 51% compared to pre-pandemic levels.

The information was published by our partner media in Brazil, Aeroin.net, taking as source INFRAERO, the state company that manages airports in the neighboring country.

The movement of the airport seems to be slightly above the national recovery average. Also on Monday, Azul and Gol released their operating results for September, showing values of 42% and 35%, respectively.

Santos Dumont Airport particularly benefits from Gol’s choice to place several of the services it previously offered from Galeão, mainly due to the lack of connectivity at the latter airport after losing most of its international connections due to the pandemic.

As reported last month, among the new routes that Gol inaugurated from Santos Dumont are Campinas and Goiânia.
